Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

It was a little rainy yesterday, but we decided to head to Cedar Points Water Park anyway.

I keep things pretty low-key in my life these days…having a whole theory about how I’ve lived my 9 lives and it’s time take it easy ;).

But somehow my sister and husband convinced me to climb several flights of stairs and get on a giant tube raft.

It’s going to be chill they said.

Just like the lazy river they said.

Lies.

We went zooming down clinging to the sides—pretty sure we were about to get catapulted through the sky or the raft was going to flip over or fold in. Nothing “chill” or “lazy” about it. 

Me screaming, them laughing, the entire way.

After I stopped trembling, I could admit it was actually super fun.

But I have to tell you, I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t for them.

Sometimes we need people we trust to help us step out of our comfort zones. To challenge the lies we tell ourselves. To cheer us on and to get in that raft and go on that ride with us. 

Because there’s a lot in life that can feel like that wild, uncertain, kind of terrifying ride.

Especially those moments when you’re facing some kind of change like a job or career change or starting a business, or rebuilding your life after divorce or a health scare or the fallout from the pandemic.
