One of the most surreal moments of my life…

Dancing Mindfulness

Getting our dance on at a wedding – 2014

The moment that I knew I was forever in love with Mark was on March 12, 2004 at the Funky Buddha in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.  It’s funny how some things are just so ingrained in your mind.

That was one of the most surreal moments of my life.

We both loved to dance, and so there we were celebrating my birthday on the dance floor.  “Yeah” by Usher came on (check it out here) and it felt as though time stood still. I felt so connected, free, and happy.  I remember smiling and dancing in what felt like a bubble. It was just like in the movies where everyone sort of blurs into the background. Every time I hear that Usher song, I smile as I am transported back in time to that moment.

It’s amazing the ways in which music and dance can impact our experience. I know that for myself, dance and music transport me to a place of happiness, connection, and freedom.  It connects me with the present moment and the feeling of being truly alive.

I love music. I love to dance.

And so, I was so excited when presented with the opportunity to host Dancing Mindfulness classes at Balance & Thrive. Jen, the amazing facilitator, truly embodies the grace, gratitude, and freedom that her classes inspire.

The next class is Monday, May 4th, and Jen has created a playlist centered on strength and surrender. This is truly an opportunity to come as you are and dance like no one is watching. It is a beautiful and freeing experience that will connect you in the present moment and open you to feeling truly alive.

I remember feeling nervous for the first class. I didn’t want to look or feel foolish. I’m much more comfortable with private dance parties in my kitchen or blending in with the crowd. But no one is watching! And, everyone is in the same boat! Just like any other class, people aren’t showing up to watch you; they are showing up for themselves. Monday is your opportunity to show up for yourself.

Space is limited and this class does fill up, so registration is requested. See the link below.

And, just in case you need a little dancing inspiration, check out this video!

“Happiness is experiencing the present moment, because the present moment is when you realize you’re truly alive.”  (quote from the video above)
