We were ready to get home after a fun adventure in Colorado. We hopped off the plane and part jogged part twirled through the airport (it was after 11 pm so we were both feeling a little delirious). Plus we were really excited to see Mark.
As we approached the overcrowded, feels-a-little-like-a-cattle-shute escalator I heard people calling out a name. I looked down to see a girl about 4 or 5 anxiously attempting to get on the escalator. She’d reach her arm and leg out and then quickly pull both back.
I looked towards her family who was calling for her and made eye contact with the Dad who literally had his hand’s full holding onto 2 other young kiddos. I knelt down to ask the girl if we could help.
She grabbed one hand while my son grabbed the other and the 3 of us made our way to the bottom of the escalator where the little girl’s family was waiting for her.
Then we all hurried our separate ways.
There are random unexpected opportunities where we can help each other all around us. We just have to be willing to slow down enough to see them and to offer a helping hand.
